What qualifications do your inspectors have?

We are a team of registered builders and architects, with extensive experience and knowledge in the building industry. The Home Inspection Hub is a member of the Master Builders Victoria and the HIA. Our director Colin Legg has lent his experience to the HIA Kitchen and Bathroom Awards as a judge every year since 2013.

How many inspections have you completed?

Since our company began as SPI Property Inspections (then becoming The Home Inspection Hub), we have completed approximately 20,000 inspections across Greater Melbourne, Geelong and Central Victoria.

Which geographical areas do you cover?

We cover all areas of metropolitan Melbourne, Geelong and Central Victoria.

How long does an inspection take?

Depending on the size and condition of the property, an inspection typically takes 1-2 hours.

Can I be present at the inspection?

You are welcome to meet the inspector onsite at the conclusion of the inspection to go over the report and ask any questions you may have.

What is covered in a pre-purchase/pre-sale house inspection?

Our report covers about 250 items, including structural elements both inside and out, wet areas, water pressure, the hot water service, rooves and gutters and insulation. We also check safety switches and smoke detectors.

What methods of payment do you accept?

For pre-paid inspections, we accept Visa and MasterCard. We don’t charge fees for credit card transactions. For invoiced inspections, you can pay with Visa, MasterCard, or by direct deposit into our bank account.

When do I receive my report?

Generallly you will receive your report within 24 hours of the conclusion of your inspection.

Do you offer any discounts?

A discount applies if you book four or more new home construction inspections. The inspections must be booked as a package to be eligible for the discount.

What happens if I get a pre-purchase house inspection but I don't end up buying the property?

If you re-book with us, a $25 credit will be applied to your next booking for a pre-purchase house inspection or building and pest inspection.

Does the same inspector do both the building and pest inspection?

The building inspecion is completed by our inspector and we engage Crunch Pest Control, an experienced, fully-qualifed pest inspection company for our pest inspections. Pest inspections are carried out in accordance with Australian Standard AS 4349.3-2010 Part 3 Timber Pest Inspections.
