I was referred by my real estate agent for an Owner Builder Defects (137b) Report which was carried out by Tim Lau. It definitely helps to have a building practitioner doing an independent inspection for all stages of construction. Even after completion there will be items that need re-work. The typical houseowner is however, not astute enough to be familiar with building codes, standards and requirements. The report assists for liaison with the builder, as the findings come from a professional and independent assessor.
So quick from end to end. Had the final report within an hour. They were organised, thorough and easy to work with.

It is worthwhile to get an independent expert inspection. Certainly finding more things to rectify than we would have. It just provides peace of mind and takes out potential regrets later on. Even if the inspection has been positive with only minor items noted, it gives reassurance about the builder’s and tradies’ competence.

I spoke to Martin prior to the inspection to highlight some concerns that I had which he addressed in the report. This was the best money I spent on our new home build! Rodney our inspector was thorough and provided excellent, timely reports, and was always willing to discuss and explain the defects in ‘layman’s terms’ so I could pass on to our site supervisor. I recommend anybody building with a volume builder to engage The Home Inspection Hub for independent building inspections. I would rate Rodney as a 10 out of 10 and The Home Inspection Hub the same as I was kept informed of the process all of the time.

It was Christmas Eve and my loan was approved late on the 23rd of December. So I was ready to purchase at a really tricky time of year. I decided to obtain a special purpose report due to delays in having the builder rectify defects. Paul Jackson was very good at explaining the tolerances with the report clearly showing where defects exceeded the building tolerances and referencing the relevant code. I would recommend their service to other without hesitation.
Glenn Newling’s report was very thorough, and it was also helpful to speak with him on the phone. He was very helpful, and recommended a specialist plumber to do further investigations (which are happening now) on a problem of high moisture levels in the wall next to a shower cubicle! Hopefully it is not a serious problem, but would not have been detected without Glenn’s Inspection. I also appreciated your efficiency too Natasha, in organising the Inspection very promptly.

Prior to our hearing in VCAT we engaged the Home Inspection Hub to assist with a VCAT Expert Report for our newly built townhouse. The process was extremely pleasant from the beginning. It was very quick and easy to obtain a quote to conduct the report. Once we decided to proceed, the Expert Witness was assigned quickly and came out to our property on time – actually 2 minutes early! The builder (Rohan) and plumber who conducted the inspection were very professional and knowledgeable. The reports they provided aligned with the VCAT requirements – which was important as this is a prerequisite to present in our hearing. Our Consultant Alvina was very helpful throughout the process.
